The Canadian Border Services Agency has announced that on April 1, 2011, it is closing the U.S. Canadian border crossings at Jamieson’s Line, and Franklin Centre in Quebec as well as Big Beaver in Saskatchewan. They are also reducing hours at the Glen Sutton, East Pinnacle and Morses Line border crossings.
As of this writing, the U.S. Customs and Border Service has not announced what they intend to do at these crossings. There is the possibility they will become “one-way ports” – you could enter the U.S. through them but could not enter Canada. This is a very undesirable situation and it is therefore possible that the U.S. will match the Canadian actions and similarly close or reduce hours at these 6 ports.
